Refund Policy
This Refund Policy explains the terms on which payments made to NIYAM.AI APP PRIVATE LIMITED for the use of Niyam (the "Service") are treated. In short: the ₹100 placed on your card to start a trial is a refundable verification hold and is returned to you automatically, while purchases of Credits and subscription fees are non-refundable once issued. Please read this policy in full, together with our Terms of Service, before making any payment.
1. No-refund policy
Payments made to use the Service — purchases of additional Credits and subscription fees — are final and non-refundable once the relevant Credits or access have been issued to your account, whether or not those Credits have been consumed.
The ₹100 placed on your card to start a trial is different: it is a refundable verification hold, not a payment for the Service, and is returned to you automatically (see Section 2).
Because the Service grants immediate access to a paid, usage-based product the moment payment is made, we do not offer refunds, returns, exchanges, or cancellations for change of mind, non-use, partial use, or dissatisfaction after access has been provided.
The only exceptions are the limited circumstances set out in Section 5 below and any right to a refund that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
2. The ₹100 trial
New accounts begin with a 3-day trial that includes 200 Credits. A valid payment method is required to start: we place a ₹100 hold on your card to verify it, and that ₹100 is refunded automatically. The hold confirms a genuine payment method — it is not a charge for the trial.
The trial is designed to let you fully evaluate every major capability of the Service — research queries, drafting assistance, contract review, and good-law checking — before committing to any Credit purchase. 200 Credits is a meaningful allocation, enough to run multiple research tasks and form a genuine view of whether Niyam is right for your practice.
Because the ₹100 is a refundable hold rather than a payment, it is released back to your payment method automatically; there is nothing you need to request. You can cancel during the trial at any time. We encourage you to review the information on our website and our published pricing before starting the trial so that you can make an informed decision.
3. How Credits work
Credits are the unit of access on Niyam. Different actions consume different amounts of Credits depending on their complexity; the Credit cost of each action is displayed before you run it.
Credits are associated with your account, are non-transferable, and cannot be redeemed for cash. They have no monetary value outside the Service. Unless stated otherwise at the time of purchase, Credits do not expire for the validity period stated at purchase.
4. Credit purchases and subscriptions
Credits purchased beyond the trial, and fees paid for any subscription plan, are non-refundable once issued or charged. This is standard practice for usage-based services where access is made available immediately on payment.
You may cancel a subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period; it does not entitle you to a refund of fees already charged or of Credits already granted for the current period.
5. Limited exceptions
We will consider a refund only in the following narrow circumstances:
Duplicate or erroneous charges: If you are charged more than once for the same purchase, or charged in error, due to a payment-processing fault on our side, we will refund the duplicate or erroneous amount.
Unauthorised transactions: If you believe a charge was made to your payment method without your authorisation, contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will investigate and, if the charge is confirmed to be unauthorised, refund it and help secure your account.
Statutory rights: Where applicable law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, grants you a right to a refund that cannot lawfully be excluded, we will honour that right.
Outside these circumstances, payments are non-refundable.
6. How to request a refund under an exception
To request a refund under Section 5, email [email protected] from your registered email address with the date and approximate amount of the charge and a description of the issue.
We will acknowledge your request within two (2) business days and respond substantively within five (5) business days. Where a refund is approved, it is processed to the original payment method and may take additional business days to appear depending on your card issuer or bank.
7. Discontinuation of the Service
If we permanently discontinue the Service in its entirety, we will provide reasonable advance notice and, at our discretion, a proportional refund of unused Credits calculated at the rate you paid for them. This does not apply to the routine modification or withdrawal of individual features.
8. Chargebacks
If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute for a charge that is not covered by this policy, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account pending resolution.
We strongly encourage you to contact us before initiating a chargeback. Most billing questions can be resolved directly and quickly, whereas a chargeback triggers a formal dispute process that takes longer and may result in interim account suspension.
9. Governing law and jurisdiction
This Refund Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to it is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Gurugram (Gurgaon), Haryana, India.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Changes apply to purchases made after the updated policy takes effect. Purchases made before a change are governed by the policy in effect at the time of purchase.
