The Supreme Court held that under Section 21(b) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) erred in reversing the District Forum's order which had directed the Life Insurance Corporation to pay the insurance claim. The Court established that acceptance of the first premium and issuance of an Acceptance-cum-First Premium Receipt constituted a concluded contract, thus the repudiation of the claim was unjustified. The appeal was allowed, reinstating the District Forum's order for compensation to the appellants.
