Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the applicability of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, in relation to the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Act, 1976. The court examined whether the compensation awarded under the latter could be challenged based on the provisions of the former. It was held that the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act could indeed be invoked for compensation claims, thereby allowing the appeals to proceed.
