Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court overturned the Delhi High Court's decision that declared the land acquisition proceedings lapsed under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The court found that the government had taken possession of the land in question and had mutated its name in the revenue records, thus upholding the validity of the acquisition process. Consequently, the appeal by the Government of NCT of Delhi was allowed, reinstating the acquisition proceedings.
