Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's dismissal of the Writ Petition (Crl.) No. 277 of 2018, affirming the validity of the charges framed against the appellant under Sections 414, 384, 386, 387, 120-B IPC, Sections 25(1-B)(a), 26, 35 of the Arms Act, and Sections 17(1) and (2) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act. The Court noted that the addition of charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 was justified following the Central Government's directive to the National Investigation Agency. The Court held that the proceedings were lawful and the appellant's claims for quashing were without merit.
