Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court held that the officers of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) are entitled to be treated as Group 'A' Railway Servants under the RPF Act, 1957, and should receive the same benefits and promotions as their counterparts in other Group 'A' Railway Services. The Court emphasized the need for the Union of India to complete the formalities for constituting the RPF as an Organized Service and to apply all relevant policy circulars retrospectively. The appeals were allowed, directing the Union to comply with the established recruitment rules and grant the petitioners their rightful promotions and benefits.
