Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Appellant to deny recognition for M.S. (Orthopedics) and M.D. (Radio Diagnosis) courses at the First Respondent-Institute due to non-compliance with the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000, specifically Regulations 6(2) and (3). The Court affirmed that the qualifications awarded to students admitted during the academic years 2011-2012, 2012-2013, and 2013-2014 would be recognized, but further admissions post-2014 were in violation of the regulations. The Court directed that the Appellant's decision to restrain the Institute from making new applications for these courses for five years was valid and in accordance with Section 11(2) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
