The Supreme Court held that the closure of a manufacturing unit by an employer must comply with the provisions of Section 25FFA of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, particularly when the employer has more than 100 workers. The Court found that the High Court erred in setting aside the Industrial Court's award which declared the closure illegal due to non-compliance with statutory requirements. Consequently, the Supreme Court reinstated the Industrial Court's decision, affirming the rights of the workers under the relevant labor laws.
