Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the termination of Baburao Dadu Sankpal from service on grounds of unauthorized absence was disproportionate, as determined by the Labour Court. However, the Industrial Court and High Court upheld the termination. Given the circumstances, including the death of the employee and the passage of time since the termination, the Court directed the employer to pay a one-time compensation of Rs. 2,00,000 to the legal representatives of the deceased, with no further claims allowed.
