Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Supervisor Qanoongo could not make entries in the revenue records without giving public notice and notifying the legal heirs of the deceased Teja Singh, as per Para 423 of the Land Records Manual. The High Court's direction to remove the names of both parties from the records was erroneous, as the rightful possessor of the land must be determined. The Court remanded the matter back to the Supervisor Qanoongo to ascertain legal possession and make appropriate entries in the revenue records.
