Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court, in a case referred from Vasant Ganpat Padave v. Anant Mahadev Sawant, addressed the applicability of Section 32-G of the Maharashtra Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948. The Court held that the appellants, who were tenants prior to 1956-1957, had initiated proceedings for purchase during the lifetime of the landlady, which were improperly suspended. The Court ruled that the appellants were entitled to the benefits of Section 32-G and set aside the orders of the Sub-Divisional Officer and the Maharashtra Revenue Tribunal, allowing the appellants' application for purchase.
