The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Karnataka High Court which dismissed the claimant's appeal for enhancement of compensation under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The Court affirmed the Tribunal's findings that the accident was due to the sole negligence of the driver and that the claimant sustained a permanent disability of 25%. The Court also confirmed the total compensation awarded by the Tribunal amounting to Rs.3,43,000, including various heads of damages, and held that the insurance policy covered the risk of the cleaner.
