The Supreme Court upheld the Full Bench judgment of the Orissa High Court which declared the post of Field Supervisor equivalent to that of a Teacher, thereby entitling the incumbent to benefits associated with the teaching post. The Court found that the earlier judgment which dismissed the equivalence claim was overruled, affirming that the declaration made under Section 19(1) of the Statutes of the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology Act, 1965 was valid. The Court held that the Registrar had the jurisdiction to declare the post as equivalent for the purposes of benefits, rejecting the Appellant's contention.
