Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Central Administrative Tribunal, Calcutta, which ordered the reinstatement of the respondent with back wages following termination. The Court, however, deemed the respondent to have compulsorily retired from service as of the date of the judgment. All consequential benefits arising from this reinstatement and compulsory retirement are to be disbursed within three months. The appeal was disposed of without delving into the merits of the case.
