Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the compensation for the death of the deceased driver in a motor accident should be recalculated based on a monthly income of Rs.7,360, which includes Rs.4,360 as minimum wages and an additional Rs.100 per day from private taxi driving. The Court established that after applying a multiplier of 18 and deducting personal expenses, the total compensation should amount to Rs.21,73,480, including various heads like loss of consortium and funeral expenses. The appeal was allowed to this extent, with interest awarded from the date of the Claim Petition.
