Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Delhi Development Authority, affirming the lower court's decision based on precedents from Civil Appeal No. 8477 of 2016 and Civil Appeal No. 5811 of 2015. The Court granted the appellant six months to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. It stipulated that failure to do so would require the appellant to return possession of the land to the owner.
