Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of the Delhi Development Authority, affirming that the issue was covered against them by prior judgments. The Court granted the appellant a period of one year to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. It was clarified that if no proceedings are initiated within this period, the appellant must return possession of the land to the owner.
