The Supreme Court dismissed the appeals filed by the Government of NCT of Delhi, affirming the lower court's decisions in related cases. The Court provided the appellants a one-year period to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. It was clarified that failure to initiate proceedings within this timeframe would require the appellants to return possession of the land to the original owners.
