Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeals filed by the Delhi Development Authority, affirming that the issue was covered against the appellant by previous judgments. The Court granted the appellant a period of one year to exercise its rights under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, for initiating fresh acquisition proceedings. It was clarified that failure to initiate such proceedings within the stipulated time would result in the return of physical possession of the lands to the owners.
