Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the order of the Prescribed Authority under Section 21(1)(a) of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Buildings (Regulation of Letting, Rent and Eviction) Act, 1972, which granted the landlord's application for release of non-residential premises based on bona fide personal requirement. The Court found that the appellant's need for the premises to accommodate her grandparents and provide separate study space for herself and her sister was genuine. The judgment reversed the High Court's affirmation of the Additional District Judge's order that had set aside the release order, thereby restoring the original decision in favor of the appellant.
