Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeals filed by the Government of NCT of Delhi, holding that under Section 24(2) of The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, if possession has not been taken and compensation has not been paid within five years, the land acquisition proceedings lapse. The Court found no merit in the appeals as neither possession nor compensation was executed, leading to the dismissal without costs.
