Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's order directing the Delhi Development Authority to calculate and disburse compensation under The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, due to the lapse in compensation payment to the original owners and subsequent purchasers. The Court noted that the respondents were satisfied with compensation under the 2013 Act, and thus dismissed the appeal, granting six months for compliance. The ruling is consistent with the precedent set in Delhi Development Authority Vs. Sukhbir Singh & Ors.
