The Supreme Court dismissed Civil Appeal No. 9603 of 2016, affirming that the appellant, Delhi Development Authority, must initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 within one year. If no proceedings are initiated, the appellant must return possession of the land to the original owner. The judgment does not affect ongoing disputes in the High Court related to the same land.
