Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Government of NCT of Delhi, affirming the lower court's decision and referencing prior judgments in Civil Appeal No. 8477 of 2016 and Civil Appeal No. 5811 of 2015. The Court granted the appellant one year to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. If no proceedings are initiated within this period, the appellant must return possession of the land to the original owner.
