Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that under Section 3 of the Andhra Pradesh (Andhra Area) Estates (Abolition and Conversion into Ryotwari) Act, 1948, the landlord-tenant relationship was statutorily terminated upon the notification of the estate, and the appellant, as a cultivating tenant, was entitled to a 'ryotwari patta' under Section 11 of the same Act. The Court held that the land in question, having been taken over by the State Government, vested free of encumbrances, and the appellant's claim to the land was valid as he had been in continuous occupation. The appeal was allowed, affirming the appellant's rights to the land.
