The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's declaration that the land acquisition proceedings have lapsed under Section 24(2) of The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, due to the Delhi Development Authority's (DDA) failure to take possession of 1100 sq. yards of land belonging to Respondent No. 1 since the award was passed in 1986. The Court confirmed that the provisions of the 2013 Act apply, leading to the dismissal of the appeal by DDA.
