Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the U.P. Consolidation of Holdings Act, 1953 governs the consolidation proceedings and the principle of res judicata applies to the case at hand. The Court found that the High Court's decision to allow the writ petition was erroneous as it disregarded the earlier findings regarding the legitimacy of the petitioners' claims to inherit the disputed land. Consequently, the Supreme Court set aside the High Court's order and restored the decisions of the Consolidation Authorities in favor of the appellants.
