Delhi Development Authority vs Poonam Bhatia & Ors

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision declaring the acquisition of land by the Delhi Development Authority lapsed under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The Court noted that the agency had not taken physical possession of the land nor paid compensation to the landowners, fulfilling the conditions for lapse as per the statute. Consequently, the appeal was dismissed as the appellant did not contest the possession issue before the High Court.
