Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court examined the constitutional validity of the Governor's actions in summoning and preponing the sessions of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, as per Article 174 of the Constitution. The Court held that the Governor's actions, taken without the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers, were unconstitutional and amounted to an inappropriate exercise of authority. Consequently, the Court struck down the Governor's orders, reaffirming the principle that the Governor must act on the advice of the Council of Ministers as mandated by the Constitution.
