Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court, while adjudicating Civil Appeal Nos. 5930-5931 of 2010, enhanced the compensation for land acquisition under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. The Court increased the compensation for one parcel of land from Rs.11/- to Rs.30/- per square foot, granting a 30% solatium, and determined Rs.10/- per square foot for another parcel with the same solatium percentage. The Court also affirmed the entitlement to interest and additional benefits as awarded by the High Court, thereby allowing the civil appeals without costs.
