DELHI DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY vs ARCHANA KHANNA .

The Supreme Court held that under Section 24(2) of The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, if possession of land is not taken within five years of the award, the acquisition lapses. The Court found that since there was no stay and possession was not taken, the acquisition must be declared as lapsed. Consequently, the appeal by the Delhi Development Authority was dismissed.
