Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of the Delhi Development Authority, affirming that the issue was already covered against them by a prior judgment. The Court granted the appellant a period of one year to exercise its rights under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings. It was clarified that if no proceedings are initiated within this period, the appellant must return possession of the land to the original owner.
