DELHI DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY vs KARTAR SOLANKI .

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Delhi Development Authority, affirming the decision in Civil Appeal No.8477 of 2016. The Court granted the appellant one year to exercise its rights under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings. It was clarified that if no such proceedings are initiated within the stipulated time, the land must be returned to the original owner if the appellant is in possession.
