Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Delhi Development Authority, reaffirming the principles established in a prior judgment (Civil Appeal No. 8477 of 2016). The Court granted the appellant one year to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. It further stipulated that if no proceedings are initiated within this period, the land must be returned to the original owner.
