Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Delhi Development Authority, affirming that the issue was covered against the appellant by a prior judgment. The Court granted the appellant one year to exercise its rights under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, for initiating fresh acquisition proceedings. It was clarified that failure to initiate proceedings within this period would result in the return of physical possession of the land to the original owner.
