The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Delhi Development Authority, affirming the decision in Civil Appeal No. 8477 of 2016. The Court held that the appellant has one year to exercise its rights under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings. If no such proceedings are initiated within the stipulated time, the appellant must return possession of the land to the original owner, as mandated by Section 11 of the Act.
