Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Delhi Development Authority, affirming that the issue was already covered against them by a prior judgment. The Court granted the appellant a period of one year to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. It was clarified that if no fresh proceedings are initiated within this period, the appellant must return possession of the land to the original owner.
