The Supreme Court addressed the interim order of the High Court directing the Vice-Chairperson of Zilla Praja Parishad, Prakasam District, to perform the functions of the Chairperson. The Court examined the procedural validity of the election process under the Andhra Pradesh Conduct of Election of Member (Co-opted), President and Vice-President of Mandal Parishad and Members (Co-opted), Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of Zila Parishad Rules, 2006. The Court held that the elections must be conducted in accordance with the prescribed rules and that the interim arrangement was valid until the elections were duly held.
