Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision that the U.P. Power Corporation's demand for energy charges from Vimla Devi was unjustified due to improper procedure in inspection and assessment. The Court ruled that energy bills can only be revised for a maximum of twelve months, and directed that the bills for the period of alleged meter fault be recalculated based on average consumption from February 1, 2010. The appeal by the Corporation was dismissed, affirming the High Court's order with costs.
