Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the appellant, Shobha Ram Raturi, was entitled to wages for the period from 1.1.2003 to 31.12.2005 after his retirement order dated 31.12.2002 was quashed. The Court ruled that the principle of 'no work, no pay' could not be applied as the respondents failed to utilize the appellant's services during that period. The Court set aside the High Court's order denying back wages and directed the respondents to pay the appellant's wages and re-calculate his retiral benefits within three months.
