Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the validity of Notifications No.39 and No.63 issued under Section 5 read with Section 3 of The Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, which prohibited the import of palm oil through Kochi and all ports in Kerala. The Court found that the notifications were not ultra vires and did not violate Article 14 of the Constitution, affirming the government's authority to regulate foreign trade. Consequently, the appeals challenging the notifications were dismissed.
