Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court modified the death penalty imposed under Section 27(3) of the Arms Act, setting it aside, and altered the death penalty for offences under Sections 121, 121A, 122 read with 120B IPC to life imprisonment. Specifically, for appellant Aftab Ahmed Ansari, life imprisonment is to be served till the end of his life, while for Md. Jamiludin Nasir, it is to be for a minimum of 30 years without remission. The appeals were partly allowed based on the detailed reasons in the signed reportable judgment.
