The Supreme Court held that the High Court erred in excluding a crucial sale instance from consideration when determining compensation for land acquired under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. The Court emphasized that the mere mistake in the value should not lead to exclusion and that the compensation should reflect the market value of Rs.6,000/- per cent, considering the prime location of the land. The Court set aside the High Court's determination of Rs.2,000/- per cent and reinstated the higher compensation awarded by the Reference Court.
