Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Bombay High Court affirming the lower courts' judgments regarding the ownership of property bearing GLR Survey No. 258. The Court clarified that the property, initially granted under GGO 14 dated 6th January 1827, remains state property despite subsequent agreements and transfers. The Court held that the appellants, Pune Cantonment Board, retain ownership rights over the suit premises, thus dismissing the respondents' claims to ownership based on the Indenture of Sale dated 12th November 1968.
