Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's directions to the Union of India to re-designate the petitioner from Hawaldar to Warrant Officer and extend corresponding pay-scales, dismissing Civil Appeal No. 25 of 2008. The Court found no merit in the appeal, affirming that the High Court's order merged with its own upon dismissal of the appeal. The petitioner subsequently filed a contempt petition under Article 129 of the Constitution and Section 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, alleging willful disobedience of the Court's orders.
