Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the High Court erred in reducing the compensation for the building based on a guess estimate, disregarding the objective material provided in Ext.C-3 Valuation Report. The Court emphasized that when credible evidence is available, a guess estimate is not warranted. Consequently, the Supreme Court restored the valuation determined by the Reference Court, thus allowing the appeal and setting aside the High Court's judgment regarding the value of the structures.
