The Supreme Court directed the constitution of State Committees to supervise the implementation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Establishment and Registration of Societies for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Rules, 2000, and related environmental laws. The Court emphasized the need for experienced Judicial Officers to act as Conveners of these Committees to ensure compliance and periodic reporting. The Court also established a remuneration framework for the Conveners, to be funded by the respective State Governments, to enhance the effectiveness of the Committees.
