Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the deceased Hanumanth, a Gumasthe accompanying goods in transit, is covered under the insurance policy clause IMT 17, which includes 'persons employed in connection with the operation of motor vehicle'. The Court found that the High Court erred in limiting the coverage to loading/unloading operations only. Consequently, the Court restored the Tribunal's award of Rs. 2,55,000/- in compensation, along with interest, to the claimants from the Insurance Company, setting aside the High Court's order.
