Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the High Court erred in allowing a writ petition that quashed the order of reversion issued by the South Central Railway Employees Co-Op. Credit Society, which was based on the Supreme Court's earlier ruling in Civil Appeal No. 4343 of 1988. The Court reaffirmed that there is no provision for promotion based on reservation policy for employees of the Society, and thus, the promotions made under such a policy were invalid. The appeal was allowed, and the High Court's judgment was set aside, reinstating the order of reversion.
