Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court held that the Government Orders G.O.M. 11/2005 and G.O.M. 12/2005, which restricted reservation benefits to Scheduled Caste origins of the Union Territory of Puducherry, are not in consonance with the Constitution (Pondicherry) Scheduled Castes Order, 1964, made under Article 341. The Court emphasized that the orders failed to comply with the Presidential Order and thus cannot be sustained. Consequently, the appeals were allowed, and the Government Orders were struck down.
